...white gold that is. After about a month of finding the perfect stones, in the perfect configuration, the ideal 5 C's if you will, to what the center stone would be. Then of course the perfect mounting. Happily 30 days later, we are done, Amanda has given the go ahead and in a week, the ring will be done. Yippie.
The jeweler we selected is the Wooden Skate. It's a local owned store in Okemos, Mi. It has its roots in antiques, to antique jewelry, to eventually new jewelry (called the Wedding Ring Store). Though they still sell antiques, a very weird combo indeed.
I dreaded looking at rings, once again, due to the climate that has been created. I believe jewelry sales people come from the same brood as car and furniture sales people. Very slimy in your face marketing. One jewelry store (Wheat Jewlers) had such condensending ads all over the radio, that I had to limit my commute to two stations...MSU/MI Public radio(WKAR 90.5FM) and The MSU Student radio (IMPACT 89FM). To this day they are the only stations I listen locally. Like car sales folk listed above, its amazing how little the sales people know their products. Clueless doesn't even begin to descibe them. As for mall jewlers...Truly the worst.
Our sales person (Michael) at the Wooden Skate, was truly a breath of fresh air ... as opposed the many that are full of hot air. We must have visited him 6 times while making the very difficult decisions for the perfect ring. He always had class, was informative, talked very little about "The 5Cs" (which is often regurgitated way too much at other places), and took his time to know the customer and start from scratch if we felt we were going in the wrong direction. Their web site sucks, but if your in the area and are in the market, go check them out. Final word on the store will be if the ring turns out the way we think it will...and if it doesn't, back to the drawing board...no charge.
