During this Thanksgiving holiday, I found my self traveling through the south end of Chicago. The day before Thanksgiving is considered the busiest time to travel in the US, so I'll admit, I expected delays. What I wasn't expecting was a 3 hour delay. I was expecting something like an accident or such that created this mess, but all I could see was construction. In some areas, we were down to two lanes. Jesus, even Benton Harbor, Mi had 3 lanes each way. I would have found myself wondering what Jackass planed a major construction during the busiest traffic season, if it wasn't for the helpful signs every mile telling me the Governor of Illinois did this starting in October, and that its for my own good, have a nice day. As for the icing on the cake, the grand finale, were the toll booths at the end of the jam. All two of them that were open. So to be thankful... I am thankful I don't live in Chicago, Illinois. Home of the crappiest (1st world) transportation I've seen to date.
The toll? 60 cents and 3 hours of my life down the tubes.
