New Wheels
The last hope for GM employees in the Lansing area, heck for most of central Michigan has been the new Delta plant. Basically, GM closed 3 plants in Lansing and others in Flint (and around the country) and opened one new one in Lansing. The auto show seems to imply that the Delta plant will be tasked with the Buick SUV - Enclave.
So here's the problem. Buick seems to be going the way of the Oldsmobile. Out of style, out of touch, out of money, out of business. Perhaps with the babyboomers getting older, it may still have some hope. The other issue is that, who's buying SUV's these days? Gas prices are as high as when the hurricanes hit and the Americans invaded Iraq. I'm tired of hearing excuses on this subject. The Enclave does look to be a mid-size SUV, but last I knew, affordable hybrid SUVs were the way to go. Sorry Lansing, GM screwed you with the SSR, now this is your last hope.
