Poor Mans Mocha

I recently made an attempt to make a mocha without the use of an expensive cappuccino machine. Here's how is went down. Just a warning, be prepared to make a mess.
  • Coat the serving mug(s) with the type of chocolate you'd normally use for a mocha. Set aside.
  • Boil up some water
  • Finely grind 3tbs of coffee per 6oz of boiled water. Texture really will depend on the press.
  • Steep in french press for about 3-4 minutes. (French presses are relatively cheap)
  • While steeping, boil up some milk in a pot. Pot above is half full.
  • When its about to boil, use a hand blender (pictured on top of pic) to emulsify and foam up the liquid, pull or lower heat if its about to go over.
  • Add coffee to mug, then milk.
Its gonna take some experimenting to get the exact ratios with you equipment. Its easy to end up with fancy chocolate milk if errors occur in blending process. Enjoy!
