Kid Actors = Kid Results

I've never really been a fan of kid actors. I think the roots of my hatred spawn from growing up with shows like Punky Brewster and Silver Spoons. Generally your get these obvious spoiled children in real life that act as the whinny little brat on and off camera. Generally I wouldn't care, but I seem to be getting sucked into network TV again these days, since the programming is slowly moving away from cop shows and "real world" crap. Two shows come to mind: Lost and Heroes. Both are good shows, yet they have annoying crappy acting kids that never seem to fit the part quite right. In fact they generally do little more then distract from the main plot. Luckily, it seems that the kid may have been written out of the Lost script.

I tried to think of kid actors I liked in movies and TV. Hears what I came up with:

Poltergeist
Sixth Sense
Six Feet Under
The Shining

Interesting, they all have to do with dead people. Hmmmm.

You liberal computer geeks don’t know nothing! Though I’d agree that child stars today have little skill and ability – and can hardly be called actors, back in the good’ol days we had lots of them. There was Tatum O’Niel, Molly Ringwald, Judy Garland, Ron Howard and my personal number one favorite: Ms Jodie Foster. Ya, baby! Stay the course! – CT?NY
