Does anyone with half a brain even listen to Bush anymore? Well, perhaps the die-hard republicans do. Although these days, I have no clue what the heck a Republican even is. Anyways, back to oil. Amazing, Bush and McCain are both pushing for more oil fields along the American coasts. First all, it drives me nuts that Bush points fingers at Democrats for the ban on oil drilling, yet, last time I check Bush history, the republicans controlled both the executive and legislative branches at one time, in which even John McCain was against lifting the ban. So, let's not blame the Democrats for being consistent.
Now, I can't stress enough how, right now, we are living an energy revolution. The Chevy Volt could very well be the car of the future, and that car is only 2-3 years away. Meanwhile, a company in Michigan is working on a $2000 wind turbine for household use. Quite frankly, we haven't seen this much public interest on alternative fuels since the Carter age. And now, our great leaders want to put us back on the track of business as usual...Drill more oil...make Oil share holders richer...squash all tax incentives on renewable energies.
Any credible source will tell you oil drilling will make zero effect on the market until 30 years from now, and even then, that's ~10 CENTS per gallon! Forget it. I'm all about drilling when we're in a state of emergency, which we are not. The Middle East is finally getting scared that we're getting a distaste for oil, so their pumping more, which is leading to the recent lowering in costs per barrel.
I'm also realistic, aerospace and military vehicles, and manufacturing will be dependent on oil in our lifetime. So, our generation will always need oil. The difference, is that agriculture and daily travel cost to work and a kids soccer game will no longer gouge us like it is today.
