So that's it huh? Cut the pipe, put on a new fitting, then put on a cap.
Obama has taken much criticism over the blanket moratorium of the deep sea drilling rigs in the Gulf. Its time to put the responsibility back in the laps of those responsible. The hearings proved as well as the last 100 days that Oil companies had no clue what to do in the case of an accident, where the emergency shutoffs did not function. Like so many of our laws, it wasn't until it actually happened to the United States, that we took notice.
The solution to the moratorium is simple. Companies prove they have the tech (deep sea subs and such), a customized fitting for that drill spot, and a new cap in hand. All which must be shipped at a moments notice. This wouldn't prevent oil gushing into the ocean, however oil spilling into the gulf for 14 days, would be a heck of a lot better then over 100. Once each deep drill site can prove they can handle such a scenario, they can go back to drill'n.
Another solution would be to have a relief well for every deep drill site, but I'm a realist and don't expect US to do what other countries already require.

I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be sorted out because
it is about the individual but it can be with everyone.

Jeff, I do not believe placing a six month moratorium was the answer to solve a problem. This moratorium just put several businesses, mainly in Louisiana out of work.
Most oilfield companies do not have all of their eggs in one basket (Gulf of Mexico)therefore they can spread their assets. The small Mom and Pop operations cannot stay open for business under these govenment regulations.
