I found it interesting how there were two stories of humans being potentially stranded this week. One from the Russians sailors sub that was stuck in a fishing net. The other, space shuttle Discovery, that may have lost tiles on its underbelly due to flakey insulation, resulting in a emergency spacewalk. I love irony. While the two situations are totally different, the problems are the same. Humans going into harsh environments (which is cool), then becoming victims of our own engineering (which is not cool). Good luck to all that walk the extreme.
Oddly, as I passed up a hitchhiker on I-96, I could not help to think, I just left him stranded...another victim of bad engineering.
