VT Tragedy

Some early observations on the VT tragedy...

Let the debate begin once more. Gun rights vs gun safety. Its a thin line that tends to get the spotlight during these massive massacres. At this point, it looks like the gunman at VT was caring legal arms. So, its not like he was smuggling AKs or anything like that. Second, we know the shooter was able to squeeze of many rounds, thanks to the newer law that allows larger clips that hold more ammo. This debate really shouldn't be about: if guns kill people, or if people kill people, but rather do extended clips kill people.

So we can debate, do we take away the extended auto clips again (was in law at one time) or do we allow college and high school students to carry guns around for their protection. Um, hmmm. I gotta admit, I don't really fully understand the logic of the latter. In the end, our society will do nothing, and wait for the next shootout.

Next, Ive seen a couple pictures of police arresting Asian males. Was there some type of profiling that was going on, that is being covered up? Were the police wasting time and resources rounding up every Asian male they saw?

This is really nothing new, but damn, do all the media programs need to play that damn "intensive" music in between their reports. Seriously, does everything need to be glorified and promoted like a movie?

Lastly, this tragedy is being billed as the worst massacre in US history. But, has anyone asked a Native American what they think when it comes to the worst massacres. To my knowledge, the people of Blacksburg weren't displaced.

Nice try... If ya thought I'd make a comment about what happened at VT (a school I recruited at for the hotel company I worked for) because of the position my “close relative” had at MSU, I wont. ...even though something very similar happened at MSU while he was there and there was also "Monday-morning quarterbacking and blame. ...there was also – though not as much, “Monday-morning quarterbacking” and blame for each and every one of the school and workplace shootings that have taken place in the past 30 years. Yup. God, Guns and Country. Stay the course. We must fight them over there so we don’t have to fight them over...here? - CT/NY

Well said. By the way, I must clarify, "clips" don't kill people, "magazines" kill people. Any NRA do-gooder will let you know if you improperly use the terms, and continue on how dumb people are about guns. Thus moving away from the subject of how arming professors and students will help the situation.
