Before making comments on the Az shooting, it seemed like this was one of those moments, to let things gel. Let some facts slip out, then make some observations. Wouldn't want to be accused of being a knee jerk liberal. During these horrible situations, its interesting to view how people react, expectantly those that are idolized, such as Sarah Palin.
In Palin's case, her first response was a generic sympathy facebook post. Nothing wrong with that, however, on that very same page, the ad for her book was about 4 times bigger then the sympathy message. I wonder how many books she sold that day? Poor taste indeed.
Next came the spiral of accusations about how the crosshairs on her campaign map my have instigated the crazy to go hunt down politicians. Palin, quickly had staffers remove the maps from her sites, while defending the crosshairs as a cartography device of seen on maps. Sure the 1800s perhaps, we like to use pins these days, its a lame excuse for not admitting what had been done. Besides, hunting 101 taught me, never put something in your crosshairs, unless you intend to kill it. Sarah has removed posts from the web in the past. Someone really needs to let her know, you can't really delete thing once its online.
Lastly, her cardboard canned speech about...well, I'm not really sure it had a point. Perhaps its best just to write off the whole Blood Libel references to the wacky realm of that which is Sarah Palin.
I originally set out to talk about the Az shootings, but in the end, rocker philosopher great Henry Rollins worded it better then anything I could write: http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2011/01/dont-blame-sarah-palin-just-stop-paying-attention.html
